Patterns of Orbital Fractures Needing Surgical Reconstruction in a Large Tertiary Hospital in Northern India

Study Design: This is a prospective study for 3 year duration. Objective: The aim of this was to observe the incidence and patterns orbital fractures discuss their treatment options. Methods: A total 29604 trauma patients visited our emergency department within May 2017 Oct 2019, where 1230 (4.15%) presented with fractures, which only 44 (3.6% fracture) required surgical reconstruction, were enrolled in evaluated fracture patterns, size bone defect, clinical presentation, timing surgery, complications. Results: 4.15%, 20.5% pure blow out. Associated included 72.7% zygomatic complex, 50% LeFort, 31.8% mandible pan facial fractures. most common pattern 1 wall defect 38.6%, 2 27.3%, 29.5% 4 4.5%. floor seen 100%, medial lateral 61.4%, roof 15.9%. Different reconstruction options used calvarial (2.3%), ear cartilage medpore (36.4%), polycaprolactone sheet (6.8%), titanium mesh (52.3%), patient specific implant (6.8%) navigation (4.5%). Conclusion: Orbital are mostly impure associated complex hence more commonly. Patient implants, guided autologous graft preformed show better results, fulfill objectives by restoring normal anatomy volume orbit.
